Misuse or creative use of language.
For some reason this really pisses me off.
Basicly it is the use of language to sell crap by discribing it unjustly. Now i know that in general advertising is there to big up a product but there are limits to what i will put up with.
An example:
1) Mcdonalds: The New chicken legend.
For starters this is a complete misnomer, how can somthing be New and a Legend? By its very definition a legend is somthing old.
leg·end (lĕj'ənd) n.
An unverified story handed down from earlier times, especially one popularly believed to be historical.
A body or collection of such stories.
A romanticized or popularized myth of modern times.
2) Sign seen on the back of a car: Have you ever considerd that god is a fact.
Huh!!
fact (făkt) n.
Knowledge or information based on real occurrences
Something demonstrated to exist or known to have existed: Genetic engineering is now a fact. That Chaucer was a real person is an undisputed fact.
A real occurrence; an event: had to prove the facts of the case.
Did i miss somthing, Has someone proved god exists?
3) The use of the word guaranteed in any advertising:
guaranteed adj
Definition: made certain
One thing i have learnt in life is that nothing is guaranteed.
